Rebuild or what?

I have a H23 with 160,000 miles on it...the motor runs strong but i am giong to go get a rebuild...i am not sure what i should do though...i have a auto tranny in right now...my options are:

A) get a regular rebuild with new bearings, gaskets, hom out the cylinder walls and all that good stuff and also get new pistions, rods, cams, valves put in.

B) i want to get the h22 put i dont want to convert to manual...i know manual is better but i cant stand it (no offence to manual lovers)...is there a way to get a h22 droped in and keep an auto tranny?

what do you guys think i should do? for the rebuild i have a guy that will do it for 1000...all the extras like pistons, rods and stuff are extra but will put in for free...what should i do????

well that depends on what you are aiming for...are you gonna go in the FI route or stay all-motor?...because if you are goin to go FI, then you should buy low-compression pistons and put it in the same time as turbo...but if you're not, then no point to buy low compression pistons...if you just want to rebuild the car, then you have to get the same specs as the stock internals...if all-motor, then you could get an h22 with auto tranny...but you also might want to build up the tranny...and since you're in ny..you could go to levelten.com and get the build-up kit for auto tranny...i live in jersey and i have the same car as you do and same name btw...hehehehe
