ok, i was looking into getting a rear progress bar for my 4th gen VTEC because it's adjustable, however, i heard that the progress bar makes a clanking noise on a 4th gen. does anyone know if this is true? if so, do you guys have any other suggestions? like neuspeed or something? about how much do you think everything will run?
also what about endlinks? do i have any options with those as well. apparently progress make adjustable ones for my car as well, but i have no idea as to where to find them.
any input will be greatly appreciated.
thanks
cool, yea i'm kinda looking for something adjustable, do you auto x?
any other input?
Yes, I autocross & do HPDEs a lot. And yes the ST bar (25mm) is fine for autocross.
It doesn't matter to me that the bar is not adjustable. I can dial in as much oversteer/rotation on my car by adjusting the shock settings, tire pressures & changing the rear spring rates. I run the Koni/GC combo & I have a nice pile of different springs to choose from.
Suspension Techniques. I have the F/R 25mm set on my 5G SH. It flattens out the handling amazingly. It was night and day apparent when I first installed them. My only issue is that the rear bar knocks against either my modified exhaust piping or the suspension A-arm on the right rear side when making a right hand turn uphill from a street but this rarely happens. Generally I feel like I'm driving a more well sorted car.
If you're raching your car then maybe you'd do better with a larger adjustable bar set.
well i'm planning on getting a rear bar only. just not sure about the setup. do any of you neuspeed owners hear any clanking from your bars? as of now, i still have my eyes set on the progress bar, unless some can give me good reason otherwise...
No there is no clanking and yes i like it very much
do you know the differences in stiffness for the rear bar? i say this because i liked how my buddy's fifth gen with the rear progress bar handles on the middle setting, and i just want to know if the nuespeed will be about the same...
so to get improved handling you only need the rear sway bar? ANd why would you remove the front sway bar? Ive been considering getting sway bars, since thats the last suspension mod on my car to do. The suspension techniques front and rear combo seems to be the best value, if they dont rub or make noise as is a major concern. Anyways I just want to make my car even better so I can auto cross once in a while, but mostly to be a daily driver.

So is there no advantage of getting a front sway bar? over having a stock one.

i got both the front and rear swaybars from suspension techniques and i can honestly say that it is night and day just like someone else posted earlier. I agree also with the groundcontrol/koni combination.

For street-driving, adding the front bar will help the car feel as if it turns in better. In fact, you'll find it "feels" quite good for street & highway driving.
However, for competitive driving (ie. Autocross, Time Trial, Wheel-to-Wheel), adding a larger front bar will increase the prelude's desire to plow/push through corners (understeer). The prelude's natural tendency to understeer (party due to it's poor weight distribution/heavy front) becomes evident when the car is driven at/near its limit in competition. Higher rear spring rates & a larger rear anti-sway bar can help the car be more neutral at the limit. But, if you add a larger front anti-sway to a car, you're just dialing back in some of that understeer at the limit.
Basically:
Street Car: larger front anti-sway bar = okay
"Race" Car: larger front anti-sway bar = slower times = bad
okay, that makes sense. although I like having street performance, It will benifit me for autocross to get just the rear sway bar, althouh I have progressive springs all the way around, I dont feel like changing out my springs compared to getting the rear bar.
