Rear Seat Removal...

Does anybody know if the removal of the rear seats in our 4G's is a worthwhile endeavor? Does it really save any weight?? I'm thinking about doing it, but I've never taken them out myself to check their weight. Lemme know... THX!!

Thwe weight of the rear seats is almost nil. They don't weigh enough to make a difference except for all the etra noise that will be let into the car. I say leave them in place. Unless you are doing it in conjunction with some other weight reduction mods.

I agree. i pulled my back seat for a few days while I was doing my stereo install and the entire seat assembly can't weigh more than 5 pounds. Even more important though is the noise thing... My car seemed to have a lot more noise coming in when the seat was out. Unless you are going to gut everything in an effort to save weight and don't care at all about the sound deadening I'd leave it.

I agree with these guys. My back seats are out right now (redoing my stereo), and all it does is make it noisier. The seats are essentially foam, and weigh next to nada.

If you do take the seats out, do you want to give me the back plastic piece of your fold down seat. When my stereo was stolen, the thieves ripped this piece because the amp was on it.

I agree with that too. I pulled that seat also when doing the stereo install and it was a beast. It's funny how big the car looks inside with the passenger seat out.

I'm not sure if you'd know, but, are the Recaro SRDs or Sparco Torino's much lighter? Besides looks, would it be worth it to switch out the stocks?

Damn ... I just checked out what the sprints look like online, and they are fixed bucket (non-reclineable). I'll go for new seats, eventually, but for now, turbo is getting my dollars.

Very true. New, they are only like 210$. Why are you getting rid of them?

I swapped my stock seats for Tenzo-R Rally's. They look sweet and are much lighter than the stockers... plus they come out really easy if I want to run with just one seat in.
