Rear Panel with 6x9's , trunk light weight...??

I wanted to try this & make it work before I posted about it... but oh well, what the hell.

I have this idea... not sure if anyone has tried it. Some ppl have put 6x9's in the rear panel of their 4thgen ludes... But when they do this... they have to loose their trunk tension bars, which in turn makes the trunk feel like it weights about 50lbs heavier.

Well here's my idea, like I said not sure if anyone has tried this or has mentioned it... I plan on doing it, just need to get a hold of a couple of items.

We all know that 5thgens come stock with rear panel 6x9's.... & they still have their tension bars. The reason is... the 5thgen tension bars are made to wrap around the magnet of the 6x9. So I was thinking of take the 5thgen tension bars (with the center clip) & modifying it to fit my trunk... then put in some 6x9's. Doing this will allow me to beef up my Tunes AND keep my trunk & it's current lifting weight.

Whatcha think... think it'll work??

Your thoughts please!

I guess the best way would be to get a spare set and measure it up! sounds good in theory!

I was thinking of getting a hydraulic stand, but I'm afraid of drilling it into the chassis and the boot lid...

Where woudl you mount it though? next to the bootlid seal somewhere where its flat, and part of the bootlid frame? It would be possible with a piston that had swivel joints... I wonder if it would fit with it when it folds downwards?

I also thought about doing the hydraulic thing.... but my wife has an accord... & I was looking at how her trunk works.... so I also thought about putting that sytle trunk arms on my prelude... BUT that would mean cutting or/& welding... to much to hassle with... I think the tension bar way might be quicker & easier.
