Rear deck rattling with subs..

Would someone mind listing the steps to removing the rear speaker deck lid? I need to put some crap back there to stop the rattling. It's pretty bad. Holy crap is it bad. Any tips to stop the rattle?

I have the same problem with mine. I took some of that black foam like they use for weatherstripping on doors from Home depot and stuffed it as far as I could between the back dash and the rear windshield. It helped mine alot...but it did not completely solve the problem....it was a big improvement though. I would be interested in any other tips anyone else has too.

I have the same rattle problem with my rear deck. The only way I can kill it is to roll down the windows. I am not sure if the wind noise covers it up or opening the cabin helps.

found this on hp.com

I had the same problem in my 4th gen. I took the rear deck cover off (the board),covered the underside completely with a layer of Dynamat (you could use any brand of sound deadening)then cut holes out of the dynamat for the speakers. The re-carpet both sides with new acoustic carpet to match your interior. Use spray glue on top of the exisiting caprtet and underneath on the dynamat. Put the deck back in and it should be a much tighter fit...tighten up the speaker nuts tight too. Another thing I did was to cut some oval holes to allow the bass to come through - before you take the deck cover out look underneath and you should see to oval hole in the metal - draw around with a marker pen so youve got the shape on the board. Then carefully cut out the holes. When you re-carpet the top, cover the holes up (the sound will still come throught the carpet)it then looks stock from the inside the car...worked for me :-)

How do you take the rear deck out to get the Dynomat under it?

the deck is held down by some plastic tab thingies, just pry them up w/ a flathead screw driver. make sure u take off the rear speaker grills (the speakers should be attached to this and will come off as well)

im not sure if u have to remove the rear seat backings, side panels, or the plastic piece in between both seats since when i took mine out, i had already stripped all that stuff off.
