so, i changed my wheels a few days ago and the Right rear pad is about half the thickness of the left rear one.....not sure why unless its the independent four wheel antilock brakes.... Anyways, what are some good brake pads to replace these with? I just want OEM pads.....should i just go get some locally for "cheap" that carry a lifetime warranty?
You didn't buy your car brand new did you? If not, the previous owner probably just replaced the left ones and left the right alone...? Otherwise, one of the calipers are seized.
I have used stock pads, Pepboys, AEM, and Axxis. I like the Axxis best for the rears.
i bought the car from a dealer that supposedly did the brakes about 30k miles ago when i bought it. I have done hard braking, but for one side to be THAT uneven is beyong my belief and understanding. Where can i get Axxis from?
so, you are saying they may be scrubbing against the disc, thus wearing them down while driving? I can hear the metal-on-metal sound from the back.....i may just go ahead and replace them as i do not want to replace rotors too
if they seized its going to be likely that the rotor is pretty messed up.. check for grooves on both sides .. somtimes the front looks fine but the back has a canyon
i'll check it this weekend - no time this week, got school and band everyday. im sure the band director would love for me to do my brakes right at the practice field before practice I'll check them this weekend. I hope nothing is bad-wrong with them.....damned japanese cars but you gotta love them I'll update this weekend? Any other ideas?
If you hear a metal-on-metal grinding noise, definately check the rotor. Depending on how long it's been making the noise, they are probably grooved....new rotor time.
i hear metal-on-metal sometimes.......very rare, most of the time it is quiet, i am about to go out and do some work and see what the thing looks like after it cools down. i called autozone, there is a metallic pad for $17 and a carbon composite for $37 (the set of 4) Which one is "better"?
