rear brake calipers

when replacing the brake pads in the rear, you have to push the piston back in obviously to make room for the thicker pad.... on our cars they've got the piston that has to be turned in rather than just pushed in.... is a special tool needed to turn the piston or is this really simple to do?

No, you make it with some bigger screwdriver. It goes very easy, don't worry.

In every car I had replaced brakes on before my prelude, I had to use a clamp to close them. So when my rear brakes needed replacing, I started in w/ the clamp and ripped the boot around the piston!

Needle nose pliers worked great for me.

a c clamp DOES NOT WORK for the rear piston. it has to be rotated back into place. i used needle nose pliers like a few other people stated.

We have sliding calipers

And yes there is a tool to screw the rear piston back in, just hardly anyone knows about it.. and even if they do, even less people use it. It looks like a little metal cube with notches in it. It's a universal tool for ALL rear disc brake pistons that require screwing in.

Just fyi

Maybe you just skipped threads and where lucky not to ruin your rear calipers. If you read all the other posts, someone did actually damage their rear caliper by using a c clamp. Read a helms and try to avoid name calling when you are the one giving out advice that could potentially cause someone to damage a part on their car.

I'm still wondering how the piston went in with the c-clamp....

Hey stud, I find it ironic that you're calling others dumbasses for knowing the correct way to compress the rear brake calipers. While we're on the subject of irony, you're calling people dumbasses, and you don't know the proper "your" for your name calling. Apparently you're not smart enough to use proper english.
