rear 1/4 question

has anybody ever replaced the entire rear quarter panel of their 4th gen ? i'm trying to find a place to sell the entire rear quarter because i figure that would save time from getting the honda rust by the wheel well and also tackle the rust underneath the windshield molding...they have tons of sites that sell the stuff for civics and accords.. but i can't find it for the prelude.. even majestic doesn't list anything of the sort

thanks for the help in advance

john

the rear quarter panel continues up above the door all the way to the bottom of the front windshield. To replace the entire quarter panel, generally it is cut above the door where it is skinny and then welded and smoothed over.

This is the way i plan on fixing mine, i just havent bothered as of yet due to lack of funds b/c i'm just a college student. Also, this was done to my car a year after the original owner bought it.... if you look close you can see where the joint was made, but normallly you wouldn't notice.

Also, i haven't looked at junkyards or made any phone calls, but over the past 2 yrs if i see someone selling body panels i usually check on the quarter panels. Shipping is a pain so local would be preferred, but in general ppl have told me they want 175 and up for a single quarter panel.

Hope this helps.

it's my plan to go all the way to the bottom of the windshield.. the rust there is getting bad also.. i just found the panels on majestic.. and the rear is over 500 each and the pillar portion runs a hefty 383

i guess that plan is out of comission...

time to get an estimate from macco and then a real body shop..

well.. i've seen some macco jobs and some are horrible and some look somewhat decent.. kinda like a second hand body shop.. but if i were to go to macco.. i would do a lot of prepping before hand.. i mean.. anything is better then the dull white that is on the car now.. i've done a lot of searching and know what to expect.. and for $300 for the paint job.. i'm not expecting a lot.. believe me i'm a fan of the "you get what you pay for" deal... my biggest problem is the rust in the rear 1/4, rust under the windshield molding and rust on the trunk by the aftermarket "stock" spoiler

bondo just won't cut it anymore because there's nothing for it to grab on to and so i have no clue as far as pricing what to expect.. i mean.. if i have to pay something like 4k to get it all in good shape.. i'm better off buying a blown motor 4th gen in the south, bringin it back up and getting macco to spray it.. and transfer everything from my 4th gen into the nicer body one

eh.. that doesn't seem like a horrible idea.. although i already have 3 preludes.. everybody around me would kill me if i got another one..hahahaha
