what a horrible day to drive my prelude. SO much rain, it felt horrible going in and out of huge puddles. hard to even see the road. but what im worried about is that when i reached home, there was a huge body of water. the water was so high, you couldnt even see the curb at the intersection. i had no choice but to go through cuz across the intersection was my neighborhood. but anyway, im wondering, since it was so deep, should i worry about anything getting messed up? like if the exhaust touched the water, does that mean the exhaust pipe got warped? sorta like brake rotors? or maybe some electrical stuff could have shorted out? i dunno, im just not used to going into such crazy rain with my car so i wanted to know if i should check anything after going through such a deep puddle. makes me happy i got that by-pass valve. a brake light went out on the way home for some reason. maybe just coincedence.
as far as the exhaust, ur fine, as the pressure will always kick that water out, depending on how fast you go, i h had water in my exhaust b4, but i just rev it up and it was clear. As far as the intake, depending on how much water u may have gotten your bypass valve may or maynot have openned. I have seen cases where bypass valves didnt open cause there wasnt so much water and the motor got messed up. So we came up with the conclusion that it take a certain amount of water b4 they actually open. Altho if your car is still runnin ok, then i m sure you have nothin to worry about. The way i do it, i just dont drive when it rains, no matter where i am. I see too many people suck up water cause they couldnt see puddles.

yea, my cars running fine. after the puddle, i reved till about 2.5, forgetting that i need to clear out the exhaust if any water got out. hopefully 2.5 rpms is good enough. the water actually went up to my fog lights. now i got water in my fog lights. what i was talking about before was that i was worried that since so much water went on my exhaust pipes, would that have warped them at all? kinda like the thing that happens to rotors when cold water is splashed on them? so many damn puddles on the highway, and i had to drive far. i hated every minute of it. but at least i learned my lesson. if its raining hard or for a long time, ill just wait. ill just use yesterday night as a reminder of why not to do that again.
so your saying if its not completely submerged in water, it could still suck up water? thats pretty stupid. but its still a good peace of mind. hopefully it will actually help me in some cases.
the rotors usually get a lot hotter, that's why they can warp if you spray cold water on them after they've been heated up. Like the others say, you should be fine. It's a horrible feeling, to have to slowly wade through a deep puddle. I've heard hyrdo-lock be referred to as "Stupid Lock" by technicians, because the damage done isn't actually done when the car stalls, but when the driver then tries to start the car by cranking it, over and over and over again.
