Re-Carpeting ... How Much??

Would it be cheaper to buy a carpet kit from the dealer, or to have it done at an auto-upholstery shop? My stock, beige carpet is shot, and I want to replace it w/ new black carpet. Any suggestions?

i dunno about dying your carpet i dont think i have ever seen any that a person has done....you could always go buy a roll big enough to fit in your car at a carpet place or somewhere and take everything out and use your stock carpet as a outline for the new carpet...this will proabably be the easiest and cheapest way

It may be cheap, but it won't have the same curves as the stock carpet.

I've seen some people dye carpet, with good and bad results.

I say go with new carpet, or go to an auto upholestery shop

Are you both sure that it only costs about 175 for a whole new carpet kit? Last time I checked, which was about a year ago, I was quoted something closer to 800 dollars?!? I need new, black carpet for the entire floor. My carpet is completely shot on the railing on both sides of the car, right at the area where everyone swings their feet in and out. The previous owner did NOT take care of the interior at all.

I helped a friend recarpet a 92 Maxima this past summer and I must say it is the most time consuming job I've ever done. He got some carpet for a place online for about $200.00. It didn't fit correctly (took hours to trim into place), wasn't an accurate color match and was very thin and of poor quality. Just bite the bullet and buy the OEM carpet and have it installed by people who know what they are doing. Trust me, I speak from experience!!!

go have it done professionally at a place that does interiors and stuff.. you can get any color you want etc.. if you get it from the dealer (the entiiiiiire kit, all of the inside), it will be about 800 bux. So you might as well get it done the way you want.

Unless my eyes are going extremely bad, my friend's 96 VTEC has black carpet. If you look up the carpet kits for our Ludes on www.hondaautomotive parts.com, they list the carpet as either beige/tan or black graphite, if I remember correctly. I think I'm taking LakeMountLude's suggestion on having it done professionally. All along, I thought that stock Honda carpet was actually pretty good in quality, but I found out otherwise, after talking to a few knowledgeable people.
