This has happened two times now in almost 2 months. My temp gauge just shoots up and a little smoke will come out from under the hood. Immediantly I pull over let the fans turn on, and let it cool down until the temp guage is at half way or lower. After I do this all is well and the temp guage stays at half way... Both times I wasn't driving my car hard at all, keeping the RPMs at no higher than 4k. Any ideas what could be randomly causing this? Thanks.

Air bubbles in the cooling system is my guess. Ever bled the air out?

again....check your coolant level. Mine was doing that (minus the smoke) and my coolant was 1/2 empty.
