Ran the 1/4 mile yesterday in my Auto just to see...

what I'd run. It was windy as hell and a sunny 55 degrees was the high at Virginia Motorsports Park. I figure I would take the car out to see what times I run before my AT-5 spd tranny swap. Well I ran with full interior including my 12" speaker box and amp and stock tires. I lined up against my friend with a Civic H/B w/GSR motor I/H/E and honadata. We were running some similar times (low 15's) at first with crappy launches so I figured I could hang with him. Well when we finally lined up against each other we posted our best times of the day, racing against the wind he ran a 14.851@92.27 and I ran a 14.45@95.85 I couldn't believe it, I thought they gave me the wrong timeslip at first and no I didn't redlight either. I used my 55 shot and I also have I/H/E, pullies,cam gears, and FPR. It was a good day, but not enough to keep me from doing the tranny swap. Just thought I'd share!

Your pal needs to learn to drive. . .GSR hatch's are capable of 14.4's stock.

Congrats man. Those are good times.

I would think a Civic HB with a B18C and I/H/E/Hondata would run better than low 15's?? Was it an EG or EK??

Either way, sounds like fun.

Thanks- Well in his defense it was both our first times at the track. His hondata still needed tuning too. I was also surprised that he didn't run better times.

What's EG or EK?

Almost....

92-95 (5th Gen) Hatchback == EG.
96-00 (6th Gen) Hatchback == EK.

They are chassis codes, similar to H22A, B16A, etc.

4th Gen Prelude codes....
S == BB
SI == BB2
VTEC == BB1

I think those are write....

Cam gears advance or retard your CAM timing. I think you are thinking of advancing ignition timing which would be bad if using N20. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think there is any harm in using cam gears with nitrous. Anyway I ran with the settings -1 Intake/+2 Exhaust to try and get more top end. My low end sucked pretty bad with those settings especially with the AT so I had to spray a little earlier than normal. Once my launch was down, it was alll good.

yeah all is fun until you break that front drive shaft, neutral drops are the stupidest things to do in the world -- brake torque. Mash down the brakes and push gas to like 3grand and then let off brake and mash the gas

Yeah, gear dropping in an auto will wear your tranny out pretty quickly

Track time vary on conditions and many other factors. I don't thinkk I've seen anyone with a stock civic si pull the stock times there supposed to.

uh...why drag launch if you're afraid to break your axle? how do you think people that drive stick launch? still step on clutch (neutral) and gas @ the same time and then let go clutch. And what does it do when you step on brakes and push gas to 3 grand? it still gonna break the axle from all those torque regardless and wear your brake more...

best way to drag launch (the proper way) is to put on neutral, gas and then shift to drive. Atleast that's how "pro" drag racers do. that step on brake crap is just make your car worse.
