Radiator question

Ok just lately ive been seeing small amounts of coolant around the cap and the crack that goes around the top of the radiator.

Dryed everything off and replaced the cap.

Took a pretty long drive. When i got home i popped the hood to find some more coolant around that area.

My question is....how well (SAFE) is that radiator leak fixer stuff that you can get at advanced auto. Anyone have suggestions on a brand of leak fix? Any experience with it. Any advise would be helpful.

Thanks,
Steve

I tired a few things, jbweld, etc. It would hold for a small amount of time but if I ever pushed the car real hard it would bust open again. This is a very common problem in 4th gens and it is recommended that you just replace the radiator. Do a search in this forum for good sites to buy from. I got one from www.radiatorexpress.com

If it is leaking that much I would recommend you just replace with a new all-metal replacement. www.radiatorworld.com sells an all copper/brass replacement for $128 shipped. I went through them for mine and it went great, radiator arrived fast and fit great.

The leak fixer stuff can gum up your radiator, and even if it does fix the leak it will only be temporary. Just solve the real problem now to save trouble later.
