Radiator Fan

okay i just replaced my radiator and a buddy of mine who was watching said my fan was supposed to have turned on....so my question is when do those fans turn on? th main and/or the reserve. I've triple checked all the connectors and its plugged together. when i drove home from my group meeting the fan (the one near the battery) turned on, i guess to cool it down, so i do know that that one does work, but when does the other turn on and why doesnt it turn on when im looking at it..kinda gets me nervous. Sorry if this is a dumb question guys

The one smaller fan(fartherst from battery) is just an AC fan. Look up the parts on a website and it will list it as AC Fan, It's only meant for the AC functions of your car. I tore mine out because... I tore my AC out after I pulled it from salvage yard. Weight reduction bisches! That and space to pull out the alternator easier
