Quiet muffler?

I know this exhaust issue has been beat to death, but I need some opinions on mufflers. I just installed a new exhaust on my car and its way too loud for my taste. I have a header, a 2.25" carsound cat, a 2.25" no name resonator, and a 2.25" Flowmaster mufller. I'm pretty sure its the Flowmaster that is making it so loud. It has a nice deep throaty sound, but still way too loud for me.
I guess my quetion is...what muffler can I get that is as quiet or almost as quiet as stock? I wanna keep my car a sleeper. Also, I kinda want to keep the stock look (twin pipes out the back, or at least a 2.25" single pipe). I would even forgo the free-flow of the muffler if it would quieten it down.
I was looking at the Magnaflow. Are they quiet? Any help would be appreciated, because I'm really disgusted and embarassedwith the sound of my car now! Thanks. Later.

Keith

I'm with you there. My car has a 5" tip on my hayame exhaust (bought the carlike that) and I spent 12hours highway driving the past 5days (6hours each way) the drone is horrid. I'm so sick of how loud my car is but dont want to forgo any gains.

Aftermarket and sleek with speed is where I want to go.

There was a 4gen in import tuner some months ago, theres a couple threads on it ( i think i started one) he had a greddy sp exhaust and wanted his car to be a "sleeper" as well. Seemed to work for him but I can't comment on how loud it would be.

RS*R Exmag if you can afford it. Prepare to spend $500+ for a full catback.

I've never seen an aftermarket tip only 2.25" in diameter, that would be way too small. You probably won't find one smaller than 3 - 3.5" in diameter.

I want an RS*R damnit!!

HKS Sport and Thermal Stealth are pretty quiet, too. The only problem with the quiet exhausts is that they are good for low end to mid power. Some of the louder exhausts provide better top end.

bsi : The thermal stealth ? or just thermal ...

My car is pretty quiet at idle and nice and throaty at WOT and cruising it drones, but on highway rpms are 4k+ like i said .. and for hours on end it deadens the clarity of audio so ... need somethin fast and stealth.

I have an older RS*R full catback... if you know cars then you can tell the note is slightly off from stock if you strain to listen, but just anybody would think its stock exhaust for the most part. (minus the 4" tip)

the CAI is much louder than the exhaust.

I think the old RS*R is pretty sweet, but the new RS*R looks like a peice of crap. You might as well put a Pacesetter on your car.

Magnaflows are pretty quiet for a straight thru muffler, but it also depends on your resonator as well. If you want it very quiet and don't care about performance, get something at MIDAS

Its tempting! I just want to get back to close to stock sound and style. I upgraded to 2.25" so the exhaust should flow a little better, right? Later.

i have the Apex'i WS full catback and it's a great exhaust! Quiet at idle and a tad bit louder at WOT. It does have a large tip though, as seen in my sig.

and i only got it for $400 a year ago!

Dont know about the sound on Ludes, but the Magnaflow on my friends Integra sounds like a high pitch fart can. Everytime I hear that exhaust, I start laughing my ass off.

If you can afford it.....the Mugen exhaust sounds beautiful. Not too quiet and not too loud, it's just right. Power gains aren't bad either.
