Anyone put 225's on stock wheels yet? I was checkin the owners manual, and it said the wheels are 6.5's, I measured 7". I need new tyres to pass inspection. Yay. Well, I'm lookin at 225/50's on stock wheels, most likely s03 pole positions. It's either that or re730s. But if I'm going to spend the money, I'll probably get the s03s. The 225's are $137, and the 205's at $118.. not a huge difference, so I figured I might upsize. I remember Dr James saying that it wasn't worth going up to 225's even though there's more contact patch. Sorry for ramblin..
Oh yeah, I was kinda concerned about rubbing, so I was looking at 215's, but a 215/55 would be off on the speedo too much, and so would 215/50, 225/50/15 are only about .08% off on the speedo, which I can deal with. But the rubbing issue..
prelude si and vtec have 15x6.5 wheels. you measure from lip to lip, not edge to edge.
i have 225/50/15 dunlop gt qualifiers but not on stock wheels. i have 15x7 vs04 racing wheels(like steels) and eibach prokit. no rub at all. go for it.
maybe find a tire thats good in snow??

I ran 215/50 on mine and my brother was running the 225/50 on his lude. I noticed no huge diff in driving.
Personally if your gonna blow $548 on just tires + ANOTHER 40-60 on a mount and balance of those tires your looking at over $600.
At that price you could get new 16 inch aftermarket wheels that are lighter, and wider....with new tires, mounted and balanced. Just a thought
Just a quick queston for you guys while where're on the tire question.
For 17 rims, would 40 or 45 be closest to stock ratio?
Right now I'm running 205/40/17s and was thinking about running 225/45/17s for the rear two since one of the tires has punctured and one of the three are worn more than the other two.

Hmm.. So 225 will fit my 17s right?
I think I'm gonna get the 225/45/17s (they dont have 225/40 for the ones I'm getting )
for the rear and stick with the 205/40/17s I have in the front.
Is there any bad with getting different sizes for the front and the rears? 40s in front and 45s in the rear.

There are alot of things that could be bad. Diif size contact patch could make your car handle funny, the 225/45 will rub for sure. And you could never rotate your tires for an even wear.
