Quick Mods

Ok, school gets out the 18th and I am taking on this guy in his 93 300ZX NA in the 1/4 at a local drag strip on the 21st. I have a 1993 Si with CAI, nothing else. I want to beat the living sh*t out of this guy. I have finally learned to shift while in the higher rpms, so i think i have an advantage there. I just cannot launch worth a damn. i need to work on launching. I figure going to the strip with about a 1/4 of a tank of gas so I can jump off the line more than I could with a full tank. I am going to get my friend to go with me so i can put all my unnecessary crap in his trunk. i was going to remove spare, jack, and the normal crap i have in there like books for school. What I needed was maybe some help or guidance as far as shifting goes and launching. Are there any other quick mods I can do that do not involve A alot of time and money? Thanks guys, I'll let you know how the kill goes.

i guess you could take out the belt for the power steering after you get to the track... ive never driven like this so dont blame me for anything =) just know that my friend goes to the track all the time with his mustang and he takes all his belts off. you could get a short belt and bypass the a/c. sorry i cant help much... ive never driven an si so i cant help you with launching

Ya know chances are all that stuff you would possibly to as a "quick mod" could be more than doubled if you actually added a real mod, ie. exhaust, headers?? Why dont you just do that real quick if you want to "beat the living **** out of this guy". By the way every racer can shift at high RPM's...i imagine the owner of the 300ZX can too so you dont have any advantage there. Good luck though.
