quick fuel filter question

Just put the new guy in fine and screwed everything in. Just want make sure about something - on the fuel return line (banjo bolt) Do you have to line up the hole in the bolt with where the outlet hose is or does it not matter because that circular part that the bolt goes through is hollow and the gas will find it's way out the sides of the bolt??
Hard to explain

Also - how did you open your filter - does the open just pop off? I want to see how crudy it is inside.

Yeah it's fine in any position, the hollowed out part does all the work.

And generally people don't open them.. just throw them away, but if you want to, I'd guess you would have to cut it open.

oh man - I just FUBARED IT!!!!

I knew it couldn't be that easy
I couldn't get the in line totally tight but I thought it was in far enough - turns out not to be. Fuel came out everywhere and now I can't move the bolt one way or the other, and already stripped one side of it. WTF

are you using a pipe wrench? The kind of wrench that goes 5/6 of the way around the fitting.. just has enough room to slide it over the line? If not you should Always always always use these wrenches on brass fittings.

I have em - they didn't fit - the overhang on the firewall gets in the way. Had to use a stupid crowfoot. Anyways - I live next to a mechanic so I just pushed it over there as I think the fitting got stipped to hell
