Questions about JDM projector headlights

you know those JDM wannabe projector headlights, like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33710.
Has anybody bought one and tried taking out the projectors and putting them in the JDM headlight? Are those projectors worth it or are they a piece of $hit? Are they actually real projectors or are they just a lens?
I need some projectors to fit into my headlights, but I dont have the money to get some very good ones. Would any OEM honda/acura projectors look nice that dont cost so much?

I have the black/ion lens and i got them @ racerwheel.com for ~$70 more. the low beam is beautiful and very bright. Has beautiful cut off just like the xenon lights in the s2000. Definetely not as good as the s2000 lights, but its better than stock lows by far. The high beams on the other hand leave a little for me to question... I cant really tell you right now because I have ****ty bulbs in my highs and i think they are severely aimed down. so might highs may seem like they suck more than they really do, but I would venture to bet if I had better bulbs and proper aiming they would be quite a bit better than they are now, I dunno if better than stock.

Do note, they use H3 bulbs so you may wanna buy a good set when you get those lights. I don't think a xenon conversion kit would fit either because of shallow bulb depth, but it might be a possibility. It would definetely look quite nice with the lows and not blind anyone.

The area near the lens gets pretty hot and you can feel the head when you put your hand to the light. Actually, I think the paint is starting to bubble near the lens from it being so hot... nothing really bad though, only if you look up close. I dunno about the clears, but the ions look very nice... but I dunno if they are legal or not in some areas, but I live in NJ and havent been pulled over for my lights *knock on wood* and everything is illegal here... I can tell you when I try to pass inspection next year : \

I can take some pictures if ya want

those projector lights are junk, a friend of mine had a set, the housing started to melt with replacement bulbs from pepboys. Not to mention it started to get condensation inside the housing.

So the headlight itself is ****ty, but has anyone ever installed HIDs in those porjectors. If I take the projectors out of those lights and put them in my JDM headlights, would my JDM headlights melt too. Is the the plastic cover on both headlights made out of the same plastic? I don't want my headlights melting because I turn on my headlights A LOT.

h8trix: Can you please take pics of the headlights with the low beams on? dont really care about the highs.

THANKS!

From what i kno, the aftermarket projector lights for our cars only use a lens, its not a full projector like the bmws and s2k. I was thinkin if i ever found a wreked s2k with smashed headlights, possibly try to salvage the projector and see if it could be customized in the JDM headlights, but what are the odds of that happening?

Its already happened, people are retrofitting HID/Xenon projectors in headlamps. I already did it to the JDM housing with Hella 90mm Bi-Xenon Projectors.

Ok then getting the projectors/lenses from the projectors headlights isnt such a good idea. I guess I'll have to save up some money and get some real projectors, but first comes paint.

yea dont waste money on projector lens housing if you want to just grab the "projectors" and retro fit them, its 2x more work and money. Go on ebay and get retrofit... just search for the Audi or BMW (depending on color desire) xenon, hid, retrofit or whatever keywords work. I found them as cheap as $300 for everything I think.... you need projectors, bulbs, ballasts, etc...

I alread have the HID kit, its bothers me that it blinds on-coming traffic. So all I need is the projectors.

ohhh ok... well I will try to get a picture of what I have on my car tonight if you are still interested. I plan to sell it soon too because I have to De-Rice my car for the city and also because I found out the inspection won't like the headlights : \
