Question w/ JDM Amber turn signals

I noticed that there is no hole for the bulb on the side jdm turn signals. Whats up with that?

The sidemarkers on the fenders are the turn signals on JDM Preludes. The amber lense on the bumper is just a placeholder that looks better than the reflector on USDM Preludes.

they are reflectors.......i thought people liked them like that. personally i bought some black housing "JDM" turn signals from ebay and they match the JDM headlights well

lol, i thought you knew. yeah thats how you tell real jdm bumper lights from usdm ones from 92-93. yeah i remember seeing a cutout for it. you sould use a dremel but it would be hard because you just don't make a cutout, you have to make the notches correctly so you can put the bulb harness in, and then twist to make it tight.

like someone mentioned above, its still pointless cuz the USDM side peice also has a reflector in it (something that will still be missing if u dremel a hole for the socket)...just FYI

You need to use any cutting tool, and I don't know if a dremel cutting wheel would fit in the little hole. I remember I saw someone eyeball where to make the notches for the bulb based on their OEM lights.

so let me get this straight. In Japan the side markers were simply reflectors, and then only the front portion were the turn signal.

don't forget the jdm sidemarkers on the fenders were also part of the "turn signaling"

No you're both incorrect. In Japan the outer 'turn signals' as we call them were just fillers, there for looks to fill in the bumper, they weren't reflectors of any sort whatsoever.

In Japan they don't have the same laws we do, they don't need reflectors on the side of the front and back of the car, hence not having the rear bumper lights or the front bumper lights. Those are both reflectors here in the US. No reflectors at all except for in the taillights in Japan.

Basically, the fender sidemarkers (they're actually blinkers not sidemarkers) are in place of our outer bumper lights.

Just FYI.

So are the JDM taillights different or do we have the same reflectors?

like others i cut a socket in mine for the bulb. who cares about the reflector IMO

i used a 1/2" circle bit and widened the hole to fit. then i created the notches by using a smaller bit. it helps if you have a good drill, but it can melt the plastic just like a demel.

either way you end up with plastic shards all in the lense unless you take it apart.

sure, here u go

http://www.ohpoc.org/members/evan/92...s/100_1578.htm

if you dont take them apart becareful when u push the drill through the plastic so you dont hit the back of the amber lense.

you can pretty much eye up the three notches because they are at 90 degrees.

make sure you have a rubber grommet on the plug and you should get a real nice seal
