Question on shifting.....

When I shift from 1st to 2nd.... I basically have to bounce the needle off the rev limiter, just so when I shift into 2nd it shifts into vtec.... anyone else have to do this? I was thinking I was fine at 7500ish... but it never shifts into vtec..... Cruical time loss

i have read many people posting that on the 1st to 2nd upshift, going past redline to assure staying in vtec into 2nd gear is a must for better times...however, our stock cam peaks at about 7k, so i am wondering if this is totally valid
