question: fog light relay

i just won some "JDM" fogs on ebay, but i don't think they're really jdm. anyway i don't think they'll be coming with the wiring sub-harness and relay (but they will come with a switch ). is there some generic relay i can buy and wire up? anybody have a write up on that or some webpage i can look at? i guess all i need to know is which wires need to be plugged into where on a relay because i won't be able to get an orginal from honda. thanks for any input guys.

if i'm not mistaken, our 4th gens should all be pre-wired for fogs... so you might not need the relay,

correct me if i'm wrong guys...

fog light relay?

make sure you look for all of those colors - I spent wasting my time trying to figure the wrong harness.

You can buy a Honda relay similar to those in the fuse box under the dash and plug it straight to the harness, no need for a subharness.

Heck, you don't really need a switch either, a paperclip will suffice

i'm pretty sure you need the relay you just don't have do any wiring, all the harnesses should be there already. At least mine are.

hey thanks for the input guys, i tried a search for "fog relay" and i didn't check the 2nd page of results which would have taken me right to where i needed. I'm not reallly too familiar with relays, so are they all the same? i can just go to some autoparts store and ask for a bosch relay? as long as the relays' connectors are labeled on the thing itself i can figure it out.

if you don't get a Honda relay, you will have to figure out the wiring and actually have to lay down some new wiring... I'd try to find a Honda relay if i were you... just for simplicity's sake

You can still buy the fog light relay from Honda, that's what I used for my JDM climate control.

Lucke: you're right when you say that the 4th gens are pre-wired for the fogs but the relay isn't in the car, it came with the fog when you bought the fog light kit.

yeah G_Loc lemme know if you can get the relay. that'd be really great and easier to deal with. forbidden did you get the relay from the delearship, i emailed hparts and hondaautomotive and they both don't have them, apparently they are discontinued as well as the rest of the parts for the fog light kit.

for the brown 4-wire connector under the dash (relay connector), you can either hook up the relay harness that comes with the fogs, or if you don't have that (which I didn't) you can try to find a honda relay at the junk yard that will fit into the socket. luckily I was able to use a relay from an acura cl that I got some parts off of, but I figured out
Hope this helps and it will be cheaper going to a yard for the cl relay.

All I can say is good luck with the switch. The one that comes in the JDM 'ludes is WAY different than the USDM switches. I got a set of JDM's too and had to find the right plug for it and completely replace the interior wiring to get the thing to work. One benifit though is that it is backlit unlike the USDM 94+.

Good luck.

The honda relay is 44 bucks new
44 bucks..!! Where. it's 28 at hparts.

The following quote was prepared by B.C. Imports:

Part #: 214471

Quantity: 1

Description: RELAY (4P) (RC-2201)

Price: $22.53

Extended Price: 22.53

UPS Ground Shipping: $5.72

They are both 4 pole relays if you look at cliffords pictures. Both has the coil inputs(85&86 on the generic and 1&2 on the honda).
As wel as input and ouput(30&87 on generic and 3&5 on the honda). I guess if you want to save money, just follow the wires from the harness and use spade connectors to connect to the specicific poles on the generic relay

I got mine from hondaautomotiveparts.com I'm pretty sure they used that relay for more than one thing so they should have some left. IIRC the radiator fan relay is pretty much the same thing...
