question about Si Prelude

I was driving tonight, and decided to top out the lude again, cause i hadnt done it with the new clutch yet, and it was cold, and i had my full I/H/E......anyways, i got up to 127 (where it usually cuts off) then it kept going into the red......i got up to about 137 mph and got scared cause it was way fast and it was nighttime....

before it had always stopped before the tach got anywhere near the redline....

my question: is the computer supposed to stop in 5th gear at redline (~6.5k) or at the rev limiter (~7k)?

I believe it's the fuel cutoff point.

huh? you didn't know that the Si ludes didn't have a speed governer???

how long have you been on here and not known that? anyways, 5th gear never really tops out, it just kind of runs out of steam and can't go any faster...

My H23 has hit 134 on a slight decline. Normally 5th gear tops out of 129mph.Not sure about the F22B

well, i am guessing because the max power is >500 rpm than the h23, but the tach kept going after redline, it usually stops

I got my H23 to about 134 or 135. The weather was nice and sunny, and about 65-70 degrees.

Uh, that's wrong. I've hit the rev-limiter in 5th gear. No joke.

Yep, I hit it down a slight hill. Granted, I did have a LONG run to my advantage, but I had the a/c on AND another passenger. It was the best thing ever. I've only ever done it once, but I know it's possible.

due to gearing i think you top out a tad under 130. they ecu never cuts off at redline. fuel cut off at 6800 occurs on every gear on a stock ecu. if your tach reads 140 when you hit the fuel cutoff, it just shows you how far it is off at high speeds. mine read about 134 the time i hit the fuel cutoff in 5th.

It's kinda like a VVRRRROOOOOOOOMMMMM.... BANG bang BANG! Sort of sounds like mortar rounds coming out of a bunker or something. Kinda freaky.

i got a 96 si, one nice sunny day about 65 degrees last early winter i hit the spedo about 2mm from 140 (138mph-ish) so i dont understand why the other si's can't go that fast....its gotta be something specific for those cars or the lack of balls of the drivers..jk people, i was racing a 5.0 stang (who pussied out at like 120). but i did it, and so can you!
