question about rear combat fitment

I took my car to a local bodyshop, to get painted from the back along with the combat rear bumper that I bought. The man working on my car said that he simply cant get it to fit on, but then again I don't think he's ever installed a body kit before so he doesn't know that fiberglass body kits need to be modified to fit most of the time. When I tried to fit the bumper (before removing steel bumper reinforcement) this is more less what the fitment was like...

The black lines representing the edges of the kit, the fitment. I exagerrated a little there though, it's not that off, but you get the idea.

Anyone had this prob when they got their combat rear bumper. He claims that it's an inch off, too wide for the car.

Any ideas or solutions?

UPDATE: just got back from the body shop, and they began explaining to me how they were cutting all this stuff off the combat rear to get it to fit on my car, including the piece of fiberglass that the license plate goes over. At this point in my head I was pissed off cause that's one of the main reasons aside from my liking the design why i went with the combat rear, to relocate my license plate there since my trunk is shaved.

Then, when it comes down to getting the combat rear bumper back to take it home, I see that it's been COMPLETELY UNTOUCHED by them. That's not it, they repainted the stock rear bumper, so now he wants an extra 150$ for that. I don't remember ever giving him permission to do so, and he wants to charge me for it!

Anyway, I'll be getting a friend to fit the combat on, and will be selling a newly painted (Sebring Silver honda color code) stock rear bumper soon.

Don't ever buy from STREETCONCEPT.COM, fitment is terrible.

I second that. I have stock rear because the replacement bumper I ordered was not even close to a fit. It was lacking in the same areas, too low under the trunk lid and far too wide. Part of this was due to warping during shipment because it was so terribly packaged, and obivously the rest of the problem is with the mold. Too bad too, because that rear is damn cool. I was going to mod it for my centered exhaust by cutting out the tie peice on the bottom, but I had to scrap that whole plan. Anyways, dont buy from streetconcept.com

From what I know they all come in fiberglass. I'm sure you could request one to be made urethane for you but that could cost a nice penny.

I wouldnt pay an arm and a leg for them to make it in urethane. Kinda hard to shift and steer with only one arm. It's just not worth it for the diff. in amount they charge for urethane. Pretty much if you hit something, it's going to cause to damage, urethane or not..

at least urethane has a bit more give... fiberglass will break like nothing.... reason why i have urethane front instead of fiberglass =)
