question about leather interior...

Ok, I am not really sure where this should go, but I am putting it here because really, only prelude owners can help me. Its not really "tech" related.

I am in the market for black leather interior for my 4G prelude. I have been able to find the back seats pretty readily in good condition, but the door panel inserts and fronts are a diff. story, still waiting on a guy to get back to me about some. Anyways, I am faced with a dilemma and what to get an opinion of how this would look.

black leather seats, but instead of the leather inserts, replace the grey cloth with something dark, like a black cloth/tweed maybe? I dunno, anyone ever done this...

I will still keep my eyes open for leather, but if I cant, could this work and look "good"

all opinions welcome, Mods, I put it here because the majority of the honda world has never seen the inside of the prelude.

feel free to move if necessary

I actually like your ideas about custom panels and leather seats. A faux suede might be nice as well.

But if your first choice is oem leather panels... you can find them. I believe there are two people on Honda Tech selling leather interiors right now. Also, the panels do come up on ebay so keep checking.

Why not just order a set from Katzkin? They offer custom-fit leather replacement covers, and can do inserts in several materials including microsuede, perforated leather, and other hides. I priced them out about 2 years ago and it seemed reasonable when you consider spending a few hundred on questionable 13 year old stock seats.

they are not cheap. especially if you have to get them shipped to you. someone found me on preludepower.com who was selling a set (front and back) and after shipping it cost almost $900. shipped through ups was $290.

Leatherseats.com is based right down the street from me. I've seen a lot of their work and I've been very impressed! My buddy had the leather replaced in his car and they made it look completely stock.
