Question about H22A1 tranny, and Type S tranny.

I have a 93 VTEC. I am rebuilding the engine and tranny in a ways to come, but I want to do some research on if I can slap a Type S tranny on my H22A1 engine, for the 5th gear advantage of top speed. Do you think this will work or will it not even be a good Idea, I heard that the 4g VTEC trannys are good, So I need some opions on if I should swap it or not.

I don't think the Type-S has significantly differnt gear ratios. In fact, the Type-S has the ATTS system, which is gonna make it a major pain PITA to use. The mounts are different and the tranny wonk bolt to your block. I think the JDM Si-R has a LSD, but no ATTS. Why not just add an LSD to your current tranny? Do you really plan on driving 130+ MPH that often?

Type-S tranny has the same gear ratios as a USDM 5th gen base tranny. Just get that if you want top speed. Buy 5th gen w/ LSD tranny if you want. A type-s tranny is the same thing as the SH tranny.

The 4th gen tranny has much better acceleration.

Yes they bolt up. but I don't know how much the H22a gear ratios will help an H23a. You will run through the gears faster, depends on where you make the power.
You will rev higher on the highway.

I would just get an aftermarket LSD put in if your tranny works well as is....
