Question about f22b in my 92 Prelude

Hi everyone, I've lurked for awhile and now have a question I hope someone can help me with.

I bought a 92 prelude si recently with a JDM F22b engine in it. The motor runs strong, but it has a tick in the top end. The tick goes away under load, but the engine over-cools driving at highway speeds. I also noticed that there is a pronounced sucking noise from the intake under acceleration.

With all these observations so far I've checked my upper and lower rad hoses to make sure they are warm. Other than that I've had no time to look at it.

I plan on checking the timing belt for proper time, and I'm going to hook my light up to it to make sure the dist timing is right.

The car had a blown h23 in it, then the previous owner (a kid, and his domestic loving dad) put the f22b in it.

Can anyone who has done this swap tell me for possible mistakes/shortcuts these two might have taken to get the f series running. I'm not sure what to look for and am searching for all the facts before I dive into this car. The fluids are all clean and fresh. 500 kms driving it home and no oil consumption, or coolant loss. No smoke of any kind from the tailpipe.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Chad

Ticking in the head could mean you need to have the Valve Adjusted.

Other than that, the JDM F22B and the H23A1 are pretty similar engines.. So there's not going to be anything that could or could not have done..

the timing belt is slightly different (F22B is shorter and they are expensive)

they are good motors. adjust the valves - chances are they didnt

Thanks for the replies guys. The ticking ended up being a loose rotor on the dist shaft. Now I just have to figure out why it won't idle up when I start it in cooler weather.
