Question about changine the wheel bearing.

Hey, this is my first post, great site gotta say, hope someone can help me, anyway, I busted up my cars front left suspension, I fixed it all except the wheel bearing which still had some life in it, anyway it needs replacing now, when I spoke to honda about it they said that when you replace the bearing, as you take it out, you crack the hub so would need a new one, well when I was reading my helms manual about it, the way it describes it, is you can change the wheel bearing and put in a new one, is this true?, can I replace just the bearing and not crack the hub?, also it said about using some special tool to remove it, does anyone know the name of this tool?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

there can be only one danyo!

hey man, welcome to PO.com...but yeah you can replace your wheel bearing without cracking the hub. you'll need a shop press to remove and replace it though. i wasn't around when my dad changed mine, but it is possible without destroying anything. he did need to get a tool to use with our press to remove it, but it wasn't a honda tool. i can find out more if you'd like.

I'd appreciate that man, so I'm taking it you changed a bearing in your 94 lude?, and not some other gen lude.

It turns out the noise from my wheel was something else so I don't need to change it now, but due to the shock I gave my wheel when I got into this small accident, I will need to replace it eventually.
