Purpose of the wiring beneath our seats?

Does anybody know the purpose of the wiring & harness that connects to the front seats of USDM 4th Gens? I'm just curious, b/c my seats aren't heated...

It's probably for the heated seats...you just need to add the switches.

Speaking of which I've got my leather interior for sale hehe..

Just add switches?

You think the element is already there?

No. Even if it has the wires running there you would need new seats that have the heating element.

They aren't for the seatbelt indicator, because the wires I noticed were under the passenger's seat, and they weren't connected to anything. I think it is for the heated seats.

Huh... I wonder if they're connected to anything heavy. They could be removed, heheh. I don't want my butt to be heated up anyway, even when I lived in Colorado Springs.

If you're referring to the 6P connector that is under the passenger seat, thats your ABS inspection connector. It's there because the ABS control panel is located past the door, next to the seats behind the paneling.

- M

EDIT: whoops... mis interpreted what I read... yeah, I'm pretty sure thats the seat belt indicator unless you actually have heated seats, then you have two connectors on your seat.

Underneath my drivers seat (canadian SR-V)

THere is:

1 two-wire plug for heated seats
1 two-wire plug for seat belt indicator
1 many-wire green plug for my OEM alarm.

This is a very cool thing- I unplugged the wiring harness for my seatbelt indicator, and now it doesn't make that annoying beep when I turn on my car before I put on my seatbelt.
Of course, on my S, that is the only thing the wiring harness does. I don't know if you could disconnect it without disconnecting something else too on a higher end model.

If you disconnect the seat belt indicator, wont that make the light on the dash stay lit?

I would think so because the car would never know if you buckled up or not. I dunno, I could be wrong.

I found the best fix for those CEL & other lights is some electrical tape... CEL problem solved, hehe.

Yeah aint that the truth, if you live in Kansas!

that seat belt light is bright! Good thing I usually wear it. I can't stand riding in frineds Ludes when they don't wear the seat belt and that huge RED LIGHT is on right in my eyes.

Can you just eliminate the seat belt light by connecting the lead to the ground?

Actually, it never comes on. Even when you turn on the ignition and all your dash lights come on for a second, it's missing.

If ANY of those lights are on, it ruins my day. I had to go like 3-4 months w/ my CEL light on, b/c I couldn't afford to fix whatever the prob was... should have used tape, hahaha.
