Pulling the block - Honda Prelude Forum

Alright, I started working on my car & was only planning on messing with the head. Once I got the head off I decided to check out the block too.

Question> do I have to pull the tranny out w/the block or can I just separate it & leave the tranny in the car?

it will be hard to remove the engine without damaging the clutch or trannny. I guess it MAY be possible but i wouldnt try it.

yeah, that's the feeling I'm getting from everyone so far... anyone who has done this before have any tips?

id say drop the trans first... i havent pulled a prelude block before but i have pulled a 240sx. we dropped the trans first from underneath then it was cake getting the block out. good luck.

We removed the engine with everything on it even the crank pulley, though you should remove the crank pulley before pulling the block or you'll have a hard time removing it if you need to. You'll just need to tilt the engine a bit. Or you can remove the tranny first and remove the block afterwards but I wouldn't remove the block and leave the tranny in the car, I don't see how you could do that without more trouble.

thanks for the advice, crank pulley has already been pulled off as has the head too. I'll post up how it goes on Monday.
