Project Update

To all that have been saying this has been a "bad " month for Ludes. Let me be the one who offically breaks this little "Spell"

For all who do not know I had to remove my cylinder head to check valves due to a timing belt loosing about 10 teeth.

I got everything back in the lude last night. Checked over everything like fifty times. I was stalling because I was aprehensive of trying to start her up. So I get in crank it once and nothing, twice and nothing, third time it cranks right up .
I have some work yet to do because my power steering belt squeaks sooo loud I thought my neighbors were gonna B!tch at me. Oh well. So tonight I will be getting those in order and doing some other tests to make sure its runnig good. Then it willbe time for the raod test. I am pumped because I put in the crower cams and I am soo ready to check out how they are. I will be keeping you guys updated on these cams and also periodically checking the rocker arms for any signs of damage. weeeehooo I am pumped. My lude is among the living. Sorry for the long post I am just super happy.

My goal is to get 200 whp. I don't know if I will do that currently but I am trying.

Well the scoop is that it is not running the best. I have a bogging when I accelerate. I believe my cam timing is off so I will try to adjust them and go from there. Does anyone have any better Idea of why it would bog. It idles great but I know it feels sluggish when I try to take off??? I will keep on adjusting them till I get it.
Is there anything else when adjusting my cam gears that needs to be done.

yeeeeaaaaahhhh.
I took my car in on friday for some testing. It turns out that I needed some new gasket rings around the valve cover. NEways I was off one tooth on the cam timing. But the best news was the leak down test was in the green in all four cylinders. So I am picking it up tonight hopefully my lude will be perfect agian. I will keep this threadd updated on the Crower Cams to let you all know how they feel. peace

crower cams update

Well it runs great. I still think there are some tuning issues to work out but nothing serious. The cams pull hard all the way throught the rpm band. I am still in the "break in period" although it is hard to not drive like I know how. The cams feel great, the idle sounds better than stock!. It has a nice purring to it which I know is different then before. I did put it into vtec just to make sure she was working and that PULLS hard and is louder. However I think I am still not timed perfectly. Something aint right at about 1-2k rpms after that it feels great. She pulls in fifth at like 2-3k rpms. I didn't do that as hard before.

So initial feeling is I know they are better than what I had before. I do not believe they are drop in and go cams as some tuning is required as well as cam gears to tune them with ease. Will update after break in period. peace

ha ha get this my "tuning issue" turned out to be a loose dizzy cap (duh). I was able to back out the little screw with my fingures I tightened them all up and now I really am feeling the difference with the cams. I still am breaking them in but I have been bad a couple of times just making sure they were for real and they are!
