Project Automatic

Just went to the drag strip last weekend and ran a 15.709 1/4 mile. And it was close to 90 degrees all day. Plus i have cam gears to tune in yet. So im thinking that i will soon achieve a 15.5 or maybe 15.4 depending on how cool the weather is, and with my cam gears tuned in of course.

Track setup ---
93 Prelude Si Automatic
CAI/H/E, untuned cam gears, removed passenger seat, striped trunk, quarter tank of gas 93 octane.

why, does the air pressure at different elevations affect 1/4 mile times?

what kinda tires are you on and wheels? im also an auto 2.3 but i could only get 15.8s. i guess i should go again wtih the cai back in. i havent been getting anythign but constant 2.5s on my avs es100s.

but yeah, what kinda wheel/tire combo are you on, and what do you do at the tree? i just brake, put it in first, rev to 3k then punch it on the 3rd yellow, then shift at 6900 or 7000.

lemme know, im very interested.

Okay - Heres my secret...

First of all , Im running some 17" ADR's on Dunlop SP901's --their really soft, plus they were brand new when i ran at the track, but broken in of course, As for my cold air intake it is a custom job. I originally had and AEM short ram, then when i decided to go cold air i didnt want to pay 200 dollars for one, so i went on ebay and bought another prelude shortram intake. It worked out better I think because the cheap ebay intake had a bigger diameter than my aem, so when i put them together it essential became a velocity stacked intake(large to small diameter), plus i had a good length of tubing to work with so my intake is much closer to the ground than a normal CAI. Then i removed the wheel well gaurd to give free flowing almost ram air effect to the intake. And of course I had to remove my passenger seat and I also stripped my trunk completely. My gas was at a little more than a 1/4 tank with 93 octane. So at the tree I leave at the third yellow. To get a good launch I brake torque it at about 1000rpm, just enough to give it a jerk. And the rest is Prelude history from there.

eu4ik -- why in the hell do you shift it it manually like its a 5 speed , that is bad for your tranny, plus it doesnt help, leave it in D4.

The air is denser at lower altitudes. Denser air = better performance
