Sup fellas, I posted this in the Autocross forum, but it's 4th gen related, so maybe you can help me out. I'm guinea pigging the Progress sway on a 4ws 4th gen, and I'm having problems...but not the problems that you might think.
I took off the old sway bar & all brackets, etc. with no problem. Then, I bolted in the Progress brackets...no problem. They even matched the stock holes perfectly. The directions told me which bracket was which..and this part went fine.
Installing the endlinks, well...the endlink bolts directly to the knuckle on 4th gens, so you can't use the provided hardware. This was already raised, so I was prepared for it...no problem.
Getting the Progress sway into place...PROBLEM...No matter how hard I tried, I simply could not maneuver the sway bar to go where it was supposed to go. I took off all the brackets to free up more room to work in, and still no luck...
Get this, I tried to give up altogether and simply reinstall my old sway bar, but now THAT won't go back in...I am currently sway bar-less in the rear until I can work up enough patience to try this again.
Can anyone provide some tips on how to get the swaybar into position? And just to make sure I'm thinking about this right, the sway goes over the exhaust, and is further back than the lower control arm B (2ws) or the steering rack/tie rod end (4ws)...Is this correct?
I think I saw some space in between the lower control arms (A&B), but this seemed like the wrong place to put the sway bar. Finally, it seems like this would be totally easier if I could just drop the rear section of my exhaust and then bolt it back up after the install. But the bolts on my exhaust are rusted to all hell, and look like they need to be cut...so I want to avoid that if possible...I've looked at the sway, and the points where it mounts, and there is no reason why this shouldn't work...except for the fact that it's not
