Probly gunna buy a lude tonight.

Ive been scanning these forums for a couple days now ever since i found a local 92 si for sale. I just wanted to get some opinions on this car im looking at.

It is a 92 si with the stock 23 in it. 190k miles. It has a rebuilt title from new mexico. I got him down from 3k to 2.5k. I know the blue book is a bit lower than that but from what i saw of the car(going to check it in person tonight) it has a mint body. No rust or dents fresh looking blue paint with minor wear. The interior is in great shape, cloth, no tear or heavy wear. Sound running with no major mechanical problems.

I was told is has the abs light problem like most of you here seem to have which is not a big deal to me. It has has the old main relay problem ive read lots of hondas have which is also an easy fix.

As for aftermart stuff its sitting on some Rial 16s with new tires, new brakes, AEM intake, and an alpine vibrational alarm with remote entry.

I know a car with this many miles will most certainly need some love, but what do you guys think for the price? Even if it ends up having some minor mechanical problems, do you think 2.5k is ok?

Thanks for the input. Hope to see more of you guys around in the future. I've never even drove a lude and im already excited about this one.

Look at the dates on the maint records if he has them. You might soon need a new timing belt, clutch, axles, sensors, etc. All that crap stack up quick when you have to pay for it later. If he had a MAJOR tune up recently, then I'd say that's a good price.

The first thing I did when I got my lude was to change the timing belt, clutch, random seals and sensors. That's $2,000 right there for repairs.

Yup. So i bought it. I will post some pics on here in a few. I have to say this is for sure a fun car to drive. Only other honda ive driven besides this one was a 90 civic si hatch which was beat to hell.

Yay something else to pour money into!

The interior was super clean. Usual wear on some of the buttons. Crack on the trim around the driver side door handle, and a small tear in the shift boot. I'll for sure have to spend some money soon on the engine cuz of the usual wear you get on one with 190k miles. Also i found some very tiny not very noticeable paint bubbles on the sunroof, but id like to replace with the 5g glass anyway.

Mechanically it drives like a dream, no bad hesitations, and really quiet. Clutch is in great shape, no grinding at all.

Id like to throw an exhaust on after some engine maintenance. Any suggestions? This will be my DD but i live out in the country and have some sick roads to cruise.

Biggest thing you want to worry about when finding a high mileage lude, is how well the owner took care of it. Seeing a lude with aftermarket parts ALWAYS leads me to assume it took a beating. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't... but people only add these upgrades to make the car faster. Lately, I only look for ludes with zero aftermarket parts.

Body looks good though, car looks to be in good shape. I Can almost gaurentee you that thing leaks oil from the backside of the engine haha

I think i got lucky. This dude was security at a big hospital around here. his brother is a mechanic. or so he says lol. He babied this car. That intake, rims, alarm/keyless entry, and cd player are the ONLY aftermarket parts on it. I was told no leaks. And from what i can tell so far he was right.

We'll see though. I've owned this thing for about 3 hours. For all i know i could start it up tomorrow and go up in flames hehe.

I've owned a fair share of high mileage imports. So far this is the best one ive seen.

Take it to a honda specialist mechanic ASAP. It was the first thing I did after buying my lude. It was perfect looking/sounding when my friends and I checked it out, but the mechanic still pointed out 20 things wrong with it. You live in a snowy state so check the underside for the extent of rust damage. Hopefully everything is cherry. The exterior looks clean from those pics. Engine bay needs some love from simple green.
