Problems w/ dash

ill get some pics of this as soon as i can. when i turn on my headlights, or even just the parking lights, the gas and temp guages dim like they r supposed to, but it is inconsistent. it is bright on the outsides of them, but in between them is very dim. also the odometer turns off completly. when i roll the dimmr down, it is all lit up again like it was before i turned on the lights, but it is extremely dim, and as i roll it, it doesnt get darker or brighter.

let me know what you guys think is wrong with it, and what i need to do to fix it. i hope what i said is clear enough for you to understand. ill get some pics ASAP though.

also, i dont know if im just not too smart, but my trip odometer wont work. the little switch is pointing to the left and i dont know how to change it. gimme a quick lesson on how to use it, cuz i have tried and it hasnt worked, so im hoping i just cant fgure it out.

if you turn it, it will cycle through trip 1, trip 2, and mileage. When you're on trip 1/2, hold it in and it will reset to 0.0

Without the engine running, do you notice your headlight being dimmer than usual? Does the dash dim only when you turn on the headlight? With the engine on, does this happen too? Is your battery terminal loose?

I've had somewhat of a similar, opposite problem (dimmer wouldn't dim). Someone suggested:
"Check to see if your rear lights (not the brake lights) are out. This sounds weird but the rear running lights and the dimmer control are both in the "Small Light" fuse under your hood. Check and see if it is blown."

Also if it's really cold (below freezing and you haven't drove the car in a while, the first 15 min or so, the dash will be dim, but I don't remember having the headlight on affecting it though.

Ive got a similar problem. my trip odometer is analog with a reset switch. it worked perfectly until the other day. Now it doesnt seem to roll back when I push it. It really sucks but I think I'm going to have to replace it... Anyone had this happen before? Also, would another honda's trip odo fit in there or do I need another one from a prelude? And is it even worth the time it would take to tear the whole dash out and put it back? Im a little intimidated about doing all that work and having it look good when im done..,.

thanks guys
