Problems with o2 sensor ??

K well heres the story.....I bought a Thermal Research cat-back and decided to do the install myself. Pretty simple except I couldnt get the bolts off near the cat. So I took it to a local muffler shop and they heated the bolts and got the pipe off for me. So I had to drive home (10 mins) with just a cat on ( noisy as hell) well my check engine light came on as soon as I left the shop. At the time I didnt really think about because I thought well there is no pipe on so that must be the reason. Get back home and put the thermal on ( I love this exhaust) start her up and the check engine light is still on..Im like WTF So I take it back up to the muffler shop and they say my 02 sensor is shot, and it will be like 370.00 to replace That seems a little high, hell that seems a lot high, so I checked with my local pepboys and they said just for the sensor it will be 330.00 I dont have that type of money for a damn sensor especially after buying my exhaust. I need some help of where to buy a cheap sensor for a 96 si h23. Also it just seems coincidental that the sensor went out at the same time they took that pipe off for me. Sorry for being so long but any help would be greatly appreciated..

please before you waste your money on an o2 sensor, reset your ecu... you should do that anytime you put a new mod on anyways...

if that doesn't work, then start getting worried.

Many junkyards have Hondas.
Many Hondas use the same type of 02 sensor. (4 wire)
An 02 sensor will fit in a pocket.
If you walk out with a $2 part, they wont question you.

Happy hunting, but reset yer ecu first.

did you check the code? should be shooting a 41 (if i remember right) for the heated o2 malf. Check the connection of the sensor to the harness....I popped one of the prongs out of the back of the harness by forcing it back together. Just pushed the prong back in and no more check engine light.

reseting the ecu, all you need to do is disconnect both battery terminals. leave them off for about 45 min to an hour.

connect them back to the battery, and start your car. leave it running for about 20-30 min, so it can "learn" your new settings, and input/output airflow.

if that doesn't work, then find the cheapest O2 sensor you can...

i wouldn't suggest getting a used one unless you're really hurting for cash.

hope that helps...peace
