problems with climate control

Has anyone had any problems with the stock climate controls? This has been the third time that this has happened to me. basically, it has only happened in the winter. two times when it was really cold out and 1 time when it was moderately cold. Anyway, the problem is that the heater just shuts down and doesn't work anymore. The indicator light (the one that tells u if ur defroster is on or if it's going to ur feet) doesn't work on any of the buttons, neither does the rear window defroster or the air condition. The power side mirrors as well as the heated seats stop working too! It's weird, cuz the first time this happened, it corrected itself and worked again. The second time, same results! Worked after a short while. Last night, I started my car and the damn thing stopped working again! In addition to this problem, my ABS light came on and it stopped working too! After a short while of driving, I cranked up my music and it suddenly everything came back online! That is until the next morning when I started my car and it stopped working again. It stopped working when I replaced the fuse holder cover. I don't know if it's a loose wire behind there or something, but if anyone has any insight, I would be forever greatful! Thanks a lot!

It sounds like a loose wire behind the fuse box or a blown fuse. Next time it happens give the fuse box a swift kick

All the fuses appear to be in good working condition. They look good and when my system goes back online, everything is working fine! I would love to perform an exorcism, just so long as it's James Woods from the beginning of Scary Movie 2!!

Holy ****!!! I tried starting my car this morning and the climate controls weren't working. I got home from school and work and still no luck. Finally, I thought that I would try ur advice! I pulled off the panel and started whacking it and guess what? It turned back on!!!! All I can say is thanks for the advice 93VTECLude! Today's lesson, if something on ur car doesn't work the way u want it to....kick the **** outta it! Hey, I wonder if this works in real life situations too! Thanks again for the help. I hope that this is the real problem though cuz from the looks of it, it does sound like something is loose behind there. I'll post again though if it acts up! Thanks again!

Yes, the kicking technique works on many electronic/mechanical appliances in life. Just give it a good whack, before completely losing hope. This applies to some people, too ... heheheh.
