problemo: tach off

my tachometer is off... its above by 200 when its idle.. it idles at 1k, and it normally idles at 700-800, but i know its idling around 700-800 because it doesnt sound like 1k, and on the highway, my 5th gear usually 83-85 mph is 4k rpm for me, but now its 3.7k rpm

i still hit vtec at the right times, but when i look at the tach, it hits at 4.8 instead of 5.2, but the engine sounds like its at 5.2

and as i increase how fast im going... the worse it becomes, like.. im going 100 but my tach shoes 4.5k rpms

does anyone know how to fix this problem? it just startedn happening tonight..

Check to see if your tach is accurate with a digital timing light.

well, i've had 2 friends that had a problem with their tach, ended up they had to replace the entire cluster. Not sure if u can fix the cluser if its no longer calibrated, i mean i think honda can do it, but it would cost u a small fortune. if you can, verify that ur tach is off like modmic2000 mentioned or borrow a tach like a autometer or hook up something that reads rpm to check it out.

hm... well.. i guess i really dont mind that much, its just that when im going up to like 7.4k rpms im afraid its at like 9k or something.. dont wanna hit rev limiter or anything.. think getting a vafc would help solve the problem?

I believe it's your cluster as well but the vafc might work without the replacement of a cluster.
