Problem replacing the Antenna Mast

I'm trying to install the antenna mast, but it dont want to go in the tube...

i have removed the motor and loosen the tube where the antenna should go and it got stuck (the mast) a bit before the cable plug (for the radio)...

the mast have a metal arround it with the black plastic thing in it... i know that i need the plastic...
but that metal that "its not part of the antenna", shound I broke it?

or continue sanding it untill it gets in?

the mast should go all the way in?

Not quite sure how you solved this. I'm having the same problem installing honda antenna mast (part num 39177-SS0-305) - the metal sleeve of the new antenna is too large to fit in the motor tube. How did you finally make it fit?

look inside the tube... look for the same pattern of the sleeve... if you find it or like something with a hole then you have the sleeve of the previous mast in the tube... use some pliers, flat screw drivers and broke the one insideand take it out

el baby....you are the man. The metal sleeve from the old antenna was stuck inside the motor tube like you said. Once we removed it, the new antenna slid in...no problem. Thanks for the help...we were just about to grind off the metal sleeve on the new antenna to make it fit.
