Problem with the lude

As I'm driving, and I get to about 3000-4000rpm range, the needle starts to flip out, it starts to fly to higher rpms. The needle drops back to normal rpms after a little bit, but when it starts to skip higher I can feel the car miss, like its choking a bit. I can feel it within the car. Could you guys possibly help me out as to what it might be? Thanks a lot, peace.

Yeah, that could very well be it... when last have you replaced the clutch? A good way to check if that's what it is: take your car for a spin, and driving at any speed (but resonably, something higher than 20 mph) in the gear you normally use at that speed, shift up a gear so the RPMS fall a bit, then flatten your foot on the gas pedal and see if the tach jumps again. For instance, when the clutch in my 2nd gen was going, I knew it for sure after I was driving @ 20 mph in 2nd, when I ****ed into third and floored it, the car didn't accelerate at all, but the tach needle did it's thing ... and that is your clutch slipping.

No this does not sound like a clutch issue.

My car was doing the same thing about 4 months ago. I spent alot of time working with it. I think in the end it may have been a bad connection on the ignitor.

The Car would totally start to miss and the rpms would go up and even bounce like crazy. Koollude Came over and we basically tested all the electrical we could. Even behind the dash. Put everything back toghter and we had no more problems.

Here's a crude way of testing if your clutch is going bad.

1)Get to 30 mph
2)Shift to 5th gear
3)Go WOT (wide open throttle)

If the rpm stays stuck and the car struggles to gain speed, then the clutch is fine. However if the revs go up and you're not picking up speed, then your clutch could very well be gone.

not enough to cause any damage, especially if you only do it once. Good point to raise though.

I wouldn't worry about the motor since it's just a simple test to see what condition the clutch is at.

It could be your timing, and it does sound fuel related.

I have the same problem, on it does it once I hit vtec, my tach has gone to around 10 once and hit my speedometer. It does the same thing where it feels like it is missing. I just did a fuel pump, rail, regulator today, but it is raining so I can't hit vtec to see if that fixed it.
