The problem goes on..

Idle is still surging. Ive had this problem for to long. as of now the IAC is unplugged and the idle is normal but when i take off from a stop it surges while driving and i almost stall the car. mechanic told me driving with the tps unhooked would make me loose power because it runs a different fuel curve or something, dunno if thats true. any more suggestions on surging... i feel like its not gonna end.

he has tried everything... how long have you had this problem now, months it seems.

I had this same problem awhile ago and it was just air stuck in the cooling system. Easy fix.

Check to see if the alternator is being charged properly. 13.5-14amps.

My idle (occasionaly) fluctuates by about 300-400 RPM at idle (osscilating from about 700-1000). Interestingly, the fluctuation dissappears instantly if I turn on any electrical accesories (headlights, AC, blower, etc). Crazy. . .

That happens to me too when I play my stereo really loud. Draws enough from the battery to pull the idle down.

If you have replaced the IAC, and bled the air from your cooling system... then did you ever think you may have a wiring problems between the ECU and the sensors that control idle?

Just a thought...

Does it seem to do it less sparatically the longer you've had the car running? Has it ever stalled on you if you start the car and immediately go? I used to have the same problem with my '88 Civic and it took almost three months to figure out that all it was was the ignition coil. It never made any sense to me -- I totally thought it was something completely different. Just a thought... since you're out of ideas!

my idle once started surging up and down repeatedly, fished around the throttle body a bit and found a valve on the firewall side of the throttle body assembly. it has a cover on it, once off it is a plastic screw out valve with a spring. i took it out, cleaned it, and screwed it back in. doing that i realized that it screwed in a lot further in than i had found it. once it was put back together, problem solved, no surging.
