Problem filling up the gas tank

To start off, the display screen for the engine temp and fuel level went out months ago. I installed a water temp gauge, but didn't worry about a fuel gauge because I just use the trip meter for that.

So, I go to fill my car up this past weekend, and as soon as I squeeze the fuel pump at the gas station, it cuts off like the tank is full. I tried several different pumps at a few different gas stations with the same results.

I took apart both the hoses comming out of the tank all the way to where you put the fuel in, all those lines are working fine, nothing clogged up or anything like that. Has anyone seen a problem like this before? I have been trying to fine a diagram of the system to look at what all is there.

Now I am going to be honest, it could be possible that the tank is full and I forgot to reset my trip meter! Possible, but not likely. I also am not sure if my gas light works anymore either, so I can't really rely on that right now.

Thanks in advance for any help

if you think the tank might be full, you could put a gas can in your trunk and just keep driving it till it runs out, then reset the trip meter. not sure where it is on the prelude, but a typical cause for a tank not filling is the tank vent being clogged, or the gas expansion chamber (again, i dont know whether or not the prelude has this) is full of gas.
