Problem: The Car is warm, dies when coming to a stop

Sorry for the funny title, but this is starting to happen to me every so often espically in the summer. After I have been driving for a while, stop and go ish, and I come to a stop and the cars temp guage is in the middle, and I put it out of grear and use the brake (or some times down shift to slow down too with the brake but not excesivly) she will die to like 200 rpm and then catch her self and bounce back and fourth from 500 to 750 rpm. I dont have any large mods that I think would make this occure. Just a header intake and apexi WS. But it only happens when she is warm, and only every so often. I think only once or twice she died on me doing it.

I put 93 octane in her and she is regularly oil changed with 148,000 miles, and 3k ago I replaced the O2 censor. Is it age, or what?

Thanks guys.

It's right behind the thermostat, where the upper rad hose connects to the engine. Circled in blue:

Two 12mm bolts hold it down. You should be able to open it up and clean it out with carb cleaner.

Read some post about blocking it with a piece of metal. While im at it, might I want to attempt to do that?

If you cover it with a plate you will have a CEL - which someone may know how to bypass. This might be a problem though with emissions requirements since this component is part of the OBD system.
-Cleaning it with carb cleaner sometimes works, but with my experience, only for a few days. Its best to just buy a new one, takes 2 minutes to swap out.

If you leave it plugged in it won't cause a CEL on obdI. Give it a shot and see if it works, several people here use them. Might cause you to get a bit worse gas mileage and it might cause you to fail on the NOx portion of an emissions test, but do they even have those in Texas?

if that doesnt work you can probably just raise your idle but I agree that that is most likely the problem.. I wouldnt block it off either, its more trouble then benifit
