Problem with antifreeze please help

Ok guys I really need some help on this one. The other day my gen 4 started to over heat while I was sitting in a parking lot with the engine running. The next morning I checked the radiator and it was almost dry. There was nothing in the overflow tank. So I filled everything back up and ran the engine. My friend stopped by I explained this and he said the same thing happened to his GTI and the antifreeze was leaking into his heads and blowing white smoke out his exhaust. So we checked mine and there was a faint whit color but nothing too white you could only see it if I cupped my hand around the exhaust pipe but a fair amount of moisture was shooting out (it was the first time I ran the car in the day) I know its not leaking out the bottom because my oil plug dosent sit flush in the pan so it leaks slightly so I am very often checking the leak. So no antifreeze on the floor also I dont smell it burning on the engine. Sorry this is so long but I wanted to be thurough. WHat do these symptoms sound like. Is it normal for antifreeze just to dissapear?

Thanks for the help
Anthony

check the head gasket sounds like u have blown one if u are getting antifreeze in the head, thats what u should hope for. if its not that maybe a cracked head if u got it hot enough before ...never had this problem on my honda but had it happen to my old z28

yes i am on the mailing list jose, and i dont think it is getting into the head cause the was next to no white smoke just moisture. But is it a possiblity even without the smoke? It has never been hot before this has been a first time.

Thanks so far

yea u can still have a blown gasket without smoke and a cracked head without smoke ...if the car never runs cool this would probably be the culprit

A byproduct of compustion is water though. If it is only a very slight amount, you could be fine. Usally the exhaust is hot enough so it comes out as a gas and you can't see it. Before you car warms up in the winter how all the exhaust coming out looks like white smoke its the same thing as when you exhale when its cold.
