Heres the scope. I took out all the bolts that there possibly are for the headlight and i still cant get the damn thing out. Any suggestions or tricks to getting it out. Im about 98% possitive i have all the bolts out that are holding it on there. The side closest to the little air vent seems pretty loose with the exception of the clip that connects to the little vent to the headlight. but the side closest to the corner is still fairly snug but still has some play. suggestions? i just wanna get these damn things off and my new ones on and its really starting to frustrate me.
Unscrew the screw going through the side of the front bumper lights (1 screw in each). Remove the front bumper light. Remove the 2 bolts on each side behind it on the bumper support (4 in total). Inside the engine there's 2 nuts (one on each side). One is to the left of the base of the battery. The other one is same place on the other side of the engine. Might be some small bolts connecting the splash guard or lip to the bumper, otherwise the bumper should be able to be pulled straight out. For the headlights there's I believe 5 bolts in total per headlight. 2 on the rad support, 2 on the outside (towards the fender) and one on the inside (towards the rad). Remove them and pull the headlight out. That should be it.
alright so i do have to pull off the bumper? i was hoping that i wouldnt have to. Alright thanks guys ill give it a try on Saturday and if i have any more problems ill post um up.
Well, I was just gonna start a new thread, but no where I click has a link to post.
Every forum I read just tells me the same thing. Here's my question
Can you take the bumper cover off of a '93 prelude, without taking out the headlights? I see no way to take off the bumper cover seeings as though there are 6 stock plastic clips holding the cover on that are under the headlights. I got this car a lil over a month and a half ago. It's my project car and since I've been doing lil things here and there, I've found bent uni-body panels and want to tear the front end apart. I had a '90 teg that I did this to, (pulled the bumper and other body panels off) and it was easy.
Any help is much appriciated (:
you should look at the 4th gen prelude FAQ's under JDM headlight install. It shows how to take the bumper off. I am not sure if you can do this without taking out headlight but I would assume so....
You do not have to remove the headlights to my knowledge. Behind the front bumper turn signals are I think two bolts on each side that hold the bumper in place. Remove those bolts. After this there are 2 nuts (one on each side) on the inside of the engine bay. One is near the base of the battery, so the batter may have to be removed and one is on the same position on the driver's side. Remove the two nuts and whatever few bolts or plastic screws that may be holding the bumper cover directly to the body of the car. After this just pull out the whole bumper assembly and unscrew all of the plastic screws on the bumper cover to remove it from the bumper support bar.
Well, the prob is, the rest of the plastic screws are under the headlights, i don't wanna break them off, cuz I want all the body to line up perfect, hence the reason for taking it apart.
And cferg94lude, is that on this site or another web page? Sorry I'm doing all this on my iPhone, I'd rather not go web surfing. It takes way too long. I don't have a computer to do this on, that's why I didn't just start a new forum.
Thanx a bunch guys. It sux that you jaw to pull the whole bumper off to get the headlights out but that's a Honda I guess. Ha
Anyways. Thanx for the link, it's bookmarked. Now time to dismantle my front end... Ha.
Have a good new years guys.
