Price to replace Master CYlinder

the floor mat under my clutch is a little damp from brake fluid i assume.. the back of my shoes are black when it rubs on it.

i asked some dude and he probably says its the master cylinder.

he said the part cost 120 from a dealer and 100 after market..is it really that expensive? but hes only charging 40$ for labor?

Get it from autozone or some other auto parts store, they come with a lifetime warranty. Then just replace it yourself. Undo the hose, undo the cotter pin, remove the master, put the new one in, reconnect and bleed.

I thought it was going to be daunting but it really isn't.

Make sure you have some universal joints for your ratchet set and semi small hands

^^The Bolt on the inside of the car?? I'm pretty sure it's only bolted on the inside..

It's very simple to do.. Bleeding takes the longest time.

You'll want to drain the fluid from the Slave, if it even has any in the reservoir.
Remove the Hard line.
Unbolt from under the dash.
Remove MC from car.
Remove the reservoir from the old and put on the new.
Bolt new MC onto the car.
Attach hard line.
Add fluid and bleed..

A helper in the bleeding process is always nice..

And on price, I spent like $60 for the Master and Slave..

^do you have to bench bleed? I was mistaken when I first opened the thread, I thought it was the brake master cylinder.

Does the clutch master have to be bench bleed?

I'm not sure what you mean.. But I bleed it once it was on the car..
Can't connect the Hardline unless it's on the car I'd think..
Though I'm not using a Hardline any more, I removed it..
So much better now..
