Hey all, I have an inquiry regarding my precious 4thGen SE. I woke up this morning, and took a look at my HKS Altezza touring car, and i thought to myself, how amazing would that be to put a widebody kit on my Prelude.. so my question is, firstly: is it financially sound to do this (also, "how" sound..$$)?, how much work is involved?, can i even find the parts necessary to do it? if you could answer these questions, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks to all you luders from the east to the west.
Anything is possible with the right amount of money and the right people to do it... i've seen so many people do conversions and wide body by themselves or some new body shop that doesn't know anything and it comes out terrible...
i guess u just need the right connections..

If I'm correct your talking about the altezza with the widebody and you can still see the rivets right? Kinda like it's "bolted" on their and they didn't cover it up?
If I were ever to put a widebody kit on my car it would look exactly like that. Any other widebody kit that has to be "bondoed" on and covered up will crack in time. That's why I like the straight rivet style.
My friend has the feels widebody kit on his civic and he's already had to get it redone twice. And right now the paint is still bubbling, the kit is cracing off, etc.

I've got a friend of mine that's here in Jax that is about to have his widebody finished. The metal work is impeccably smooth. He's actually having it painted either this week or next week. It's taken him forever, as he's a mechanic and always get's to his car last. But I have to admit he is great with metalwork and as soon as it's done, I'll get some pictures of it.
The only thing I don't like about it is he's not flowing it into the factory lines, leaving it flared like the Ferrari F-40. He's also got C-5 Racing Harts on it to keep it from looking like he's driving on pizza cutters. It looks surprisingly sharp though, but I would personally remove the friggin' giant spoiler, but he won't listen. Anyhow, when I get some pics I'll post them for you to see.

check out www.importfan.com they have a wide body kit for sale for 4th gen preludes. gonna run you about $1,249.00 + shipping for Rear bumper, Rear wide fenders, side skirts, front wide fenders and front bumper. Not too bad of a deal except that the bumpers are ugly imo. Im thinking about getting just the wide fenders and the sides and molding everything together.... but thats not for a LONG while... heres the pic they have on their site:

You can actually buy those and bolt them up. Off roading vehicles have those, I believe they're called fender flares.
I think a good widebody kit would look good, but wouldn't it be very hard to get a good looking rim to sit wider too?

well it's either those rivets (which sometimes look like a nice hard core japan look) or try and bondo over them and paint. and then bondo over and paint again after the sheet metal flexes and the urethane and bondo comes apart.
And then a few months later bondo and paint again after your body panels flex and the urethane and bondo become 2 again. I've seen my friend go through it, and I guess he didn't mind since he had $$$$.

This is what happened after the SECOND time he got it repainted and bondoed.
widebody=rude awakening.
I was always under the impression that a widebody kit consisted of a whole new fender, and you just take off your fenders and slap on the widebody.
But, nope (especially for the rear). My friend paid like 1k for the widebody, a new rear bumper, side skirts. The widebody pieces are just pieces you slap on, and I laughed when I saw that he paid 600-700 for these measely pieces of urethane or whatever they were made out of. Oh yeah, the prep work and the paint job was around 2500, and he was hooked up supposedly. (x2 for the second time around)

can someone post up some widebody pics of preludes if there are any..i've never seen any... the prelude's body is pretty bulgy already if you know what i 'm saying
I think the lude already has a "wide" look to it. How the fenders flare out slightly over the wheels is gorgeous. If you could flare them a little more, then it might look nice. I love the look of the S2000 front:
I really don't see a purpose to a wide body prelude, since it is a FWD, and doesn't need 18"*10" in the back. I also don't like how they have to compensate for the gas lid and the doors. Kinda looks like some goofy transformer.

I think it would look OK on a 5th gen Prelude, and the only reason I say that is because I've seen it. I think it would look retarded on a 4th gen. Reason being the 4th gen lines are so smooth, I really can't see anything messing up the curves.
