I'd go for the 4th gen VTEC. Less costly to own/maintain.

you are at a prelude site so hopefully everyone tells you to get a prelude. It really counts on what you want in a car, if you want a cheap fast car that you can build don't get either, but if you have some money or going to do just little things like bolt ons get a prelude. I dont know anything about BMW's so I can't say anything about them. It all count on what you want in a car.

Sean, the 318i Bimmers are gutless, they lack power. If you want an E36, go for at least a 325 although the 328 is a better engine.

But, between a Prelude and a 318i....Prelude wins hands down.

Thanks for using a pic of my Lude... Im flattered that you would use it to represent a great looking example of a 4th Gen.

Well, the BMW is RWD, so there's potential for better handling........
I'm pretty sure there are turbo and supercharger kits available for that car, and a pretty popular thing to do is swap for a inline-6 from the 325 or 328, or for $$$, the S52 M3 motor.......fun.......

I'd say stick with the prelude. If you want a bmw save and get something nicer than a 318.

save up your money by keepign the lude, then later on buy a new or fairly used 330CI

It might be the rims but the Bavarian is ugly as sin. Get a Lude or a better BMW as every one has said, that's like the Civic DX of the Honda world.
