uh oh, here we go again with another VTEC vs. SI post!!
Run!
You may or may not (because people may be bored of debating this) get a lot of replies to this post but basically the VTEC is the best all around - a little quicker and better brakes, slightly heavier though. The prelude SI is a nice torquey engine, a little slower than VTEC. Civic SI, they don't get much respect on this board so you won't hear good things. Need a nice dose of torque if you ask me.

well...I have switched from a prelude si and swapped a jdm vtec...vtec is much faster...I have heard that the vtec is only a couple of tenths faster than the si...but hey thats still faster...as for the civic si...i've beaten it both with the 2.3 and the 2.2

Prelude VTEC is the quickest. I also had an H23, no comparison, especially after you start modding it.... I never saw H23's running close to H22's after mods are installed. As for the Civic Si, car is slow

Which Civic are you talking about. . .the new coupes or the older hatchback Si's? A civic Si Hatchback with a B18c will probably cost you about the same a nice Prelude VTEC, and rape both the VTEC and prelude Si.

no matter if you swap in any engine in a civic, a civic is still a civic. sorry just my opinion. I'd rather have a much nicer looking car that looks more classier. but everyone has their own opinion, if your planning on buying one of the cars in the near future, do what makes you happy, and makes you happiest b/c your gonna be driving it around. good luck

I didn't think engine swapped cars where on the list at the top. B16 civics are weak unless they are FI.

He asked how the Prelude Si and VTEC comapre to other cars in terms of performance, not style or class. I answered accordingly. I completley agree that the Prelude is a "nicer" car than a civic hybrid, but it's still not faster.

B18c hatches car run low to mid 14's without modding. Yeah, I guess he didn't mention swapped cars, but hey. . .it would out perform both Preludes.

ive also owned both motors..h23 and h22..theres no comparison, my h22 would walk all over my h23, its pretty pitiful actually, ive gained over 1 full second and 10 mph on my traps with the swap..both motors however will take the b16 civics, and btw i dont have probs keeping up with hatches with b18s and mods, now the H22 hatches thats another story..peace

Well, i am not arguing about the H23 or H22 handing the civic si his ass. However, mods vs. mods, even tho the H22 comes with more HP, with a little lower amount of displacement it will get a little less HP and torque gains that you get when you add to the H23. But having 30 more HP from the start helps. I suppose adding enough mods you will eventually outweigh the H22.

but an h22 civics handling will be garbage, but a 13 second car would be nice.
