Prelude S, F22, To Chip or not to Chip?

I was wondering if there is a chip for my prelude S F22?? I was saving for my Turbo and was going to run that till i blew my engine then upgrade to h22 but since i spent my Turbo money on an Engagement ring (3000$) it may be a while before i can get back on track. SO i was wondering if chipping/reprogramming my computer was an option? By the way my car is Manual if you are wondering. My friend chipped his Jetta and gained almost 100 hp (upped his turbo to 18 pounds of boost instead of 8) But im not sure if it would give me any gain at all. ANyone have any experience in that area???

it aint worth your money in my opinion.

I used to have a f22 (accord) And knew many ppl w/ the Jet chip and other chips... they only work well if your modded... if you have i/h/e/pullies/cams/geats etc.. it could be the icing on the cake... but otherwise might take that money and just pay off the ring =] hehe

GL (remember, just my opinion)

And as for the VW's those are different stories, those bastards ECU's come downplayed or something, cuse a chip CAN do all that... and going from 8 to 18 psi is WAY more then 10 hp. =]

damn VW

I used to kik my friends butt racing, but now im afraid to race him. He will kik my butt. Thats alot of Xtra power.

As for the chip, what does it do for the f22? And where can i get one? I might start looking for I/H/E soon. I wasnt going to get them because the turbo come with all that anyway. But now. I got a wedding to plan and got a kid coming. Alot of change. I have to make sure i dont spend much.(or she will kill me). My poor car. She gets soo jealous of my fiance. After the first time i had sex in my car the engine check light went on. Then on christmas eve i told my girlfriend that she was the only girl for me and my car instantly broke down. I try to give her plenty of attention but i just dont have the money now. I told her she can have a turbo so i better get the money for it.

Save your money on the chip and put it toward like a CAI for a h22 when you get it.

First I did't think a jetta runs 8 psi stock that seem a bit inflated and second I hope that chip didn't bump him to 18 psi unless he has rebuilt the motor to withstand that.

hmm

The jetta engine is actually built to run that kind of boost but because we live in AMERICA they cut the balls of our cars so that they pass all the requirements. But that engine is actually built to run high boost. As for the chip, im not planning on putting a H22 in for a while. And saving for a turbo is going to be a pain in the butt, especially since i already saved allmost all the money and had already talked to all the guys to do it for me. Im just thinking that my engine still has potential. Since it has nearly as much Torque as a Vtec and since torque is more important that horsepower(thats what all the integra guys say, haha) maby a chip can bring a big change to this engine. How much will a chip run me?

And damn my car is sensitive, its been all bogged down since i proposed to my GF.

DONT do anything else to an f22a!!!

Get an engine swap instead...

That is what I am planning on... It will make the biggest difference no questions asked.

it will cost less than a turbo and allow u to do a bunch of things at once. Also manny of the parts u have now will work with an h22 or h23 =D additionally you dont have to worry about running too much boost adding in all the things that go with a turbo worrying about your air/fuel ratio running through gas three times as fast and you will get a huge hp gain... just think if you want to try something new and different go to hybridhonda.com and check out what you can about an h23 block with an h22a vtec head... I think you only need two more oil holes drilled in and you have a much much more powerful engine... and if you add in a vtec controller with that you dont have to change the computer from what I have heard...

Congrats on the fiance and on the child.. they are more important than your ride... but dont forget ya baby ... since she will always get you through what you need to with a lil TLC

f22

actually if i upgraded my block to a h22 or h23 i would only gain like 18 pounds of torque. My car runs 17 flat in the 1/4 mile now with NO modifications. Stock H22s only run like mid 15s if there lucky. Thats really not that much of a difference for 4,000$. There are very few parts i can reUse. Im going to need a Computer, transmission, and block.

If i get a turbo it will be cheaper only 3500$ after install. They guarentee me 220 hp at the wheel. Which is more than im going to get with a h22 or h23. Whats a h22 or h23 at the wheel? like under 160 hp. Also with the turbo, i dont need header (300$) or exaust (500$), intake (130$).

Ohh yea, the TURBO setup comes with custom 3 inch exaust, turbo manifold, and a intake is not needed. That would mean i dont need to buy a bunch of bolt ons to make HP.

Ill upgrade the block after this engine Blows. Then i wont get lazy and not buy the turbo later.

ThanX alot for the Congrats

Ya man.. H23A makes 160 at the wheels, stock.
The 22 makes about 190 I thinks.

I just had to buy a new engine six months ago and it cost me about a grand more than I initially planned.. so I would definately not look forward to an engine swap.
If you already have a well maintained engine and it will produce 220 with bolt on turbo and no headwork.. I would say you are doing pretty well. I guess it depends on what your end goal is.

HP

I dont think the H22 makes 190 at the wheels, its prolly more like 170-180 max.
Thanx finally someone agrees with me.

That goal makes my car faster than any civic, ANY even a modified SI and also i can kik some 5th gen ass's, that would be fun.
